Dora A. Bowersox, 85, of McAlisterville, passed away at 6:40 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born on January 7, 1935 in Lewistown, Mifflin Co., she is the daughter of the late Lester F. and Ruth V. (Varner) Phillips. On February 19, 1960, she married her late husband, Andrew W. “Andy” Bowersox, with whom she was blessed to share almost 47 years of marriage before his passing on February 18, 2007.

Surviving her are: her children, Teresa Sherlock and her husband Jim of Port Royal and Roger Bowersox and his wife Kelly of McAlisterville; one brother, Mark W. Phillips of McAlisterville; one sister, Edna M. Wisehaupt of Port Royal; three grandchildren, Nicole Sherlock-King and her husband Jonathan, Josh Sherlock, and Russell Bowersox and his fiancé Tiffany Graybill; and three great-grandchildren, Jaylyn King, Matt Graybill, and Kimmy Messimer.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard E. Phillips.

Dora was a 1953 graduate of Fayette High School, McAlisterville and was a member and had attended St. John’s United Methodist Church in Cocolamus.

In earlier life, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her father helping on the family farm; most importantly, she cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

All services will be private and interment will be at Goodwill Cemetery in Bunkertown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Bowersox’s memory may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, c/o Lisa Ard, 1222 Fairview Road, McAlisterville, PA 17049 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
