Obituary

Dorothy L. Hockenberry, 79, of East Waterford, passed away at 6:46 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest Campus.
Born on February 2, 1942, in Spring Run, Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Martha (Wilson) Eaton. On July 5, 1958, she married her late husband, Buddy T. Hockenberry, with whom she was blessed to share more than 57 years of marriage before his passing on December 30, 2015.
Surviving are her children: Twyla Berrier and her husband Wes, of Mifflin, Buddie Hockenberry and his wife Trudy, of Blairs Mills, and Tammy Hockenberry of East Waterford; four grandchildren, Brandon Berrier, Courtney Swasing and her husband Quill, Chelsey Hockenberry, and Brian Shuman; a sister-in-law, Helen Eaton of Doylesburg; a special nephew, Jim Eaton and his wife Mary Alice of Chambersburg; and a special canine companion, Pooch.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Bobby Hockenberry; and three sisters and five brothers, making her the last of her generation.
Dorothy had attended A New Beginnings Community Church in Spruce Hill and was a proud homemaker.
She enjoyed watching TV shows, especially Days of Our Lives and Last Man Standing, reading her Bible, and loved flowers and plants; however, spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren, brought her the most joy.
Public Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from the Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Cemetery, Waterloo with the Rev. Graham C. Fowler, officiating.
There will be no public viewing or visitation.
For those that wish, memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Hockenberry’s memory, to R.O.F.F. (Rescue Our Furry Friends), P.O. Box 6, Lewistown, PA 17044.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
