Obituary for Richard W. "Rick" Casner

Richard W. “Rick” Casner, 66, of Mifflintown, went home to be with the Lord at 8:45 AM on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at UPMC Community Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg.

Born on April 16, 1955 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is the son of Robert P. “Chink” Casner of Mifflintown and the late Mary Jane (Eaton) Casner.

On April 26, 1980, he married his surviving wife, Janice E. (King) Casner with whom he was blessed to share over 41 years of marriage.

In addition to his father and wife, he is survived by: two daughters Nichole L. Keiter and her husband Shaun of Mifflintown and Jaclyn A. Deck and her husband Casey of Dunmore; five grandchildren, Dylan Keiter, Emmy Keiter, Harper Keiter, Gabrielle Deck, and Truxton Deck; one sister, Sharon C. Mingle and her husband Ed of Mifflin; one brother, Stephen L. Casner of Mifflintown; three brother in laws, Roland J. King Jr. of Mifflintown, Mark Y. King and his wife Lois of Port Royal, and Roy T. King and his wife Fran of McAlisterville; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Dozer.

Mr. Casner was a 1973 graduate of Juniata High School in Mifflintown and a 1975 graduate of Thompson Institute in Harrisburg.

His employment included working as the MIS Director and having over 25 years of service at Empire Kosher, Inc., in Mifflintown; working with Computer Programming and IT at Fences and More in Mifflintown for more than 17 years; and currently was employed at Superior Builders Supply in Loysville where he enjoyed working in all the different areas of the business.

He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Mifflintown, Lost Creek Golf Course in Oakland Mills, and the VFW Post 5863 in Mifflintown.

Rick enjoyed golfing and loved to bowl; however, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and vacationing to the Outer Banks.

All Services and Interment will be Private.
