Obituary for Nicholas D. Spak
Nicholas D. Spak, 81, of Mifflin, passed away at 6:45 AM on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Locust Grove Retirement Village in Mifflin.
Born on November 8, 1939 in Plains, Luzerne Co., he is the son of the late Nicholas D. and Julia (Masloski) Spak
On February 16, 1963, he married his surviving wife, Roseanne (McSloy) Spak with whom he was blessed to share over 58 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Daniel J. Spak of West Chester, Diane Husbands and her husband James of Sarasota, FL, Michael C. Spak and his wife Deena of New Jersey, Matthew A. Spak and his wife Kelly of Quakertown, and Helena Spak of South Carolina; one sister, Betsy Spak of Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Douglas Spak, Melissa Spak, Allyson Spak, Lauren Spak, Brian Spak, Nathan Spak, Christopher Husband, Steven Husband, Nicholas Spak, Olivia Spak, and Kiara Grant; and four great grandchildren, Oliver Spak, Charlotte Spak, Lilianna Spak, and Serra Spak.
Mr. Spak was a 1957 graduate of Plains High School in Plains, PA and was employed and retired as a Firefighter for the City of Philadelphia.
Nick proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Coast Guard.
His memberships included the St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 298, both of Mifflintown.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed wood carving, auto sports, local high school football, and was also a former soccer coach for Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia.
Spending time with his family and friends was his greatest joy and he will be greatly missed and remembered by those that loved him and those that called him friend.
All Services will be private with Interment taking place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
The family kindly requests no flowers and instead making memorial contributions in Mr. Spak’s memory to St. Joseph Catholic School, P.O. Box 187, Mifflintown, PA 17059. All checks can be made payable to Father Jayaseelan Amalanathan.
