Obituary for Delmar L. Bassler Sr.





Delmar L. Bassler, Sr, 63, of McAlisterville, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021 at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey.

Born on November 7, 1957 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is a son of the late Robert K. and Valera M. (Forry) Bassler.

Surviving him are his children, Delmar L. Bassler, Jr. and his wife Pamela of Duncannon, Bradley A. Bassler and his wife Nicole and Shannon L. Coudriet and her husband Mike, all of McAlisterville; five grandchildren, Maddison Coudriet, Marrisa Coudriet, Makyla Coudriet, Colton Bassler, and Kira Bassler; three siblings, Shirl Lyter of Thompsontown, Nancy Troutman and her husband Larry of Cocolamus, and Kenneth Bassler and his wife Brenda of McAlisterville; one brother in law, Ira “Dice” Hood of Millerstown; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Tracy Hood.

Mr. Bassler was a 1976 graduate of East Juniata High School in Cocolamus and was currently employed with over 42 years of service at the former Pannebaker Cabinets, now known as Tedd Wood in East Salem.

He enjoyed going to dirt track races, especially Port Royal Speedway and hunting; however, cherished time spent with his grandchildren is what brought him the greatest joy.

Delmar will be remembered for his hard work ethic and his ability to drop everything to help out someone in need.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Turkey Valley United Methodist Church, 13606 State Route 235 Millerstown with Pastor Wyatt Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Maze Cemetery.

A viewing will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Bassler’s memory can be made to the Wings of Kindness, P.O. Box 225, Thompsontown, PA 17094 or to the York County Racing Club Injured Driver’s Fund, 568 Yale St., York, PA 17403.
