Obituary for John O. "Dick" Frymoyer

John O. “Dick” Frymoyer, 88, of McAlisterville, passed away at 5:50 p.m. on Friday, March 19, 2021, at his residence.

Born on November 8, 1932, in Evendale, Juniata County, he is a son of the late Roscoe and Elda Mae (Kauffman) Frymoyer.

On November 8, 1957, he married his surviving wife, Norma M. (Ehrenzeller) Frymoyer, with whom he was blessed to share over 63 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Rose M. Auker and her husband Jerry, Jeffrey J. Frymoyer and his wife Kelly, and Jennifer K. Smith and her husband Ed all of McAlisterville; two sisters, Norma Maneval and her husband Richard of Evendale and Lorene Gingrich and her husband Ernie of Harrisburg; and six grandchildren, Tyler Auker and his fiancé Amanda Sheaffer, Ben Auker, Morgan Peoples and her husband Ethan, Andy Frymoyer, Levi Smith, and Carter Smith.

Three brothers, Gerald Frymoyer, William Frymoyer, and Donald Frymoyer ; one sister, Mary Hoffman; and a brother and sister in infancy, preceded him in death.

Mr. Frymoyer was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in McAlisterville.

In 1950, Dick founded Frymoyer Excavation which transitioned in 1990 to Frymoyer and Son Excavating in McAlisterville. Along with his wife, he owned and operated Frymoyer Storage, Frymoyer Car Wash and Laundromat, and various rental properties.

He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, and spending time with his family at the cabin; however, his greatest pride and joy came from his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and commitment to his family and community.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 144 Red Bank Road, McAlisterville with the Rev. James A. Neimond Jr. and the Rev. Michael Neimond officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.

A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at St. John’s United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Frymoyer's memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
