Obituary for Helen I. Troup


Helen I. Troup, 86, of Millerstown (Seven Stars), passed away at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.

Born on October 20, 1934, in Maze, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late John Allen and Sarah Elizabeth (Lauver) Lindsey. On September 9 1953, she married her late husband, Lenus I. Troup, with whom she was blessed to share more than 62 years of marriage before his passing on September 28, 2015.

She is survived by her children, Donald E. Troup and his wife Judy, of Maze, Ronald L. Troup and his wife Luci, of Millerstown, Robert D. Troup and his wife Dawn, of Richfield, JoAnn L. Bason and her husband Bradford, of Danville, thirteen grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren with one on the way.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, M. Eugene Lindsey and two sisters, Barbara E. Benner and Grace Elizabeth Lindsey in infancy, making her the last of her generation.

Helen was a 1952 graduate of Thompsontown High School and a member of the Turkey Valley United Methodist Church, Millerstown.

She was a former co-owner, with her family, of Troup Brothers and Benner Store in Seven Stars and was employed as a real estate agent, retiring from Century 21 Above and Beyond in Mifflintown.

In earlier life, she was an avid tennis player and enjoyed traveling with her late husband, putting puzzles together, and gardening; however, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

Due to the current Covid -19 pandemic, All Services will be private with interment taking place at Maze Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
