Obituary for Margaret V. "Peg" Moad (Geedey)

Margaret V. “Peg” Moad, 84, of McAlisterville, passed away at 10:10 a.m., on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown.

Born August 1, 1936, in Milford Township, Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Blair L. Sr. and Kathryn (Graham) Geedey. On May 29, 1953 she married her late husband Larry F. Moad, with whom she was blessed to share more than 57 years before he preceded her in death on October 17, 2010.

Surviving are three daughters, Kathy Rhyne, of Chambersburg, Deborah Moad, of Zanesville, OH, Cynthia Shamansky and her husband Tom, of Enola, three brothers, Robert Geedey, Kenneth and his wife Barbara, John Geedey and his wife Linda, all of Mifflintown, and she leaves behind four grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, Rick Allen, Heather Lowman, and Justin Randolph, and also 14 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: one granddaughter, Tiffaney Staley; one grandson, Matthew Rhyne; two sisters, Patricia Keller and Betty Booher; and one brother, Blair “Deetle” Geedey Jr.

Along with her husband, Mrs. Moad was a founding member of the Church of the Open Door, Evendale

In earlier life, she was employed at the Richfield Shirt Factory and then was employed and retired as a seamstress at the former Lyons Fashions in McAlisterville.

She enjoyed sewing and loved taking care of flowers; however, she treasured the time spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Peg will be remembered for having a broom and dust cloth in her hands and for her attention to details when it came to cleaning.

A public graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 2, 2021, from Niemond’s Cemetery, Richfield with the Rev. Michael Neimond officiating.

There will be no public viewing or visitation.
