Obituary

Sallie A. Miller, 89, of Mifflintown (Rockville), died on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020 at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on Aug. 28, 1931 in Mifflin, Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Arthur C. and Beatrice E. (Saylor) Heikes. On June 18, 1949, she married her surviving husband, Ray F. Miller, with whom she was blessed to share over 71 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Ray A. Miller Jr. and his wife Ethel of Mifflintown, Sallie J. Arnold of Mifflin, and Dennis L. Miller and his wife Sharon of Mifflintown; brothers, Harry Heikes and his wife Pastor Jennifer of Mifflin, Raymond Heikes and his wife Virginia of McAlisterville and Delbert Heikes and his wife Jane of Williamsport: nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Allen C. Arnold, a brother, Arthur C. Heikes and a sister, Irene Strawser.
Her membership currently includes the Port Royal Presbyterian Church and the Milford Grange. She was a former member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Mifflintown where she had taught Nursery school and Kindergarten, also she was a member of the J&J Achievers Sunday school class of the church.
Sallie was a homemaker and she loved raising her Pomeranians, she also had a gift for cooking and baking, especially apple pies. She was an avid collector of dolls and bells. She had a knack for winning drawings being extremely fortunate to have won a rare 101 Dalmatian collection at McDonalds and while on a bus trip with her husband to Nashville she won a drawing, and the prize was Minnie Pearl’s hat. Her greatest joy; however, was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
All services will be held at a later in the spring.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Miller’s memory may be made to the Port Royal Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 387, Port Royal, PA17082.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown.
