Obituary for Donald S. Henry
Donald S. Henry, 88, of Nook, passed away at 1:50 AM on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on October 19, 1932 in Beale Township, Juniata County, he is a son of the late Homer H. and Mary (VanSwerigan) Henry. On October 18, 1958, he married his surviving wife, S. Agnes (Whitesel) Henry, with whom he was blessed to share more than 62 years of marriage.
Surviving are a son, Michael Henry and his wife Patty of Whitwell, TN, two sisters, Bertha A. Bowers and her husband Wayne of Steelton, Mary Jane Trout and her husband Harry of Elliottsburg; three grandsons, Christopher Henry, Curtis Henry, Cody Henry; and he leaves behind five great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Henry and a brother, H. Carlton Henry.
Donald was a 1950 graduate of Juniata Joint High School and proudly served his country with the U.S. Army.
In 1997, he retired as a Foreman with 38 years of service from Bethlehem Steel, Steelton.
His memberships included the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Beale Township Fire Co. No. 5.
He loved attending dirt track racing, especially Port Royal. He also loved restoring classic cars and antique tractors.
A public graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, from the St. Paul’s Cemetery, Nook with the Rev. Richard A. Adams officiating.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly ask that memorial donations in Mr. Henry’s memory can be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 337, Mifflin PA 17058.
