Obituary for Robert E. Martin
Robert E. Martin, 84, of Thompsontown, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on September 21, 1936 in Thompsontown, Juniata County, he is a son of the late Park and Ruth (Smeltz) Martin.
On June 8, 1955, he married his late wife, Carrie L. “Sis” (Campbell) Martin with whom he was blessed to share almost 50 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on February 15, 2005.
Surviving are his three sons, Steven Martin and his wife Bonita of Mifflintown, Joe Martin and his wife Deb of Thompsontown, and Brian Martin of Harrisburg; and one sister, Kate Fisher, formerly of Millerstown. “Old Bob,” as he liked to be called was a grandfather of five and great grandfather of eleven: Justin Martin and his wife Mandy of Mifflin and their children Madison, Christopher, and Joshua, Drew Martin and his wife Ashlee of Port Royal and their children, Collin, Alyssa, and Natalie, Mark Martin and his wife Keira of Port Royal and their son, Grant, Shelly Kauffman of Mifflintown and her children Natasha and Kasey, and Misty Confer and her husband Bryce of Thompsontown and their children Chase and Kinley.
Mr. Martin worked for Regester Chevrolet all of his adult life, retiring as the Manager of the Gulf Station, Thompsontown.
He enjoyed talking to folks and telling stories of the by-one people and happenings from the Thompsontown and Delaware Township areas.
All Services will be private with Interment taking place at Locust Run Cemetery in Thompsontown.
