Obituary for Dena S. Wagner



Dena S. Wagner, 89, of the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown, passed away at 10:20 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Brookline.
Born on October 15, 1931 in Walker Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Blennie (Graybill) Sheerer. On August 3, 1951 she married her late husband Earl J. Wagner, with whom she was blessed to share almost 65 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on June 10, 2016.
Surviving are a daughter, Holly E. Roush and her husband Doug of Thompsontown, a sister, Dorothy Goodling of Mifflin, three precious grandchildren: Logan Roush, of Austin, TX, Jessica Lehman and her husband, Jordan of Mifflintown and Jason Roush of Thompsontown.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded death by a daughter in infancy, a sister, Eleanor Powley, a brother, Walter Sheerer and a brother in infancy, Charles Sheerer.
Her memberships included the Locust Run United Methodist Church and the Locust Run Community Assoc. She served on the Board of Directors of the Mifflin-Juniata United Way and the Juniata Unit of the Salvation Army, also she served as a Crop Walk recruiter for many years.
She was a 1949 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown who was a homemaker most of her married life, but she also took care of the administrative duties of the office for her husband who owned and operated Earl J. Wagner Trucking.
Dena loved square dancing and polka dancing. She will long be remembered for being the Pie Lady, for baking over 10,000 pies to be sold by her church; however, nothing meant more to her then being “Grammy” and spending the quality time with her grandchildren.
A public graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Locust Run Cemetery, Thompsontown with the Rev. Donald Walters officiating.
