Obituary for Melvin L. "Chip" Cashman

Melvin L. “Chip” Cashman, 63, of Richfield, passed away at 1:36 PM on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born on February 20, 1957 in Altoona, Blair Co., he is a son of the late Melvin N. and Leota (Carter) Cashman.

On June 27, 1981, he married his surviving wife, Jeanne L. (Banks) Cashman with whom he was blessed to share more than 39 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister in law, Marilyn Willison and her husband Gary of Standish, ME; three brothers in law, Edward Banks and his wife Carol of Port Crane, NY, Howard Banks of Altoona, and Gary Banks and his wife Kathy of Berlin, NJ; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Cashman was a 1975 graduate of Altoona High School and was employed and retired as a Fork Lift Driver for Energex American, Inc. in Mifflintown.

Chip was a member of the Richfield Sportsman’s Association and had previously helped as a cook for Meals on Wheels.

He enjoyed hunting, carpentry, cooking, and spending time with his “Pooh Bear,” friends, and family.

All Services will be private with interment taking place at Alto-Reste Park in Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Cashman’s memory can be made to the Richfield Sportsman’s Association, P.O. Box 245, Richfield, PA 17086.
