Obituary for Donald G. Frey

Donald “Dee” G. Frey, 88, of Mifflintown, formerly of Thompsontown, passed away at 9:26 PM, Monday, October 19, 2020 at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.

Born on November 17, 1931 in Thompsontown., Juniata County, he is a son of the late Samuel L. and Alma A. (Graybill) Frey.

On July 27, 1956, he married his surviving wife, Joyce A. (Spriggle) Frey with whom he was blessed to share more than 64 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, David L. “Dutch” Frey and his wife Leah of State College, and many generations of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Frey was a 1949 graduate of Thompsontown High School and honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

In earlier life, he was employed at Standard Steel in Burnham and R.C. Savercool Clay Sales. He was later employed and retired after 26 ½ years with the Russell National Bank and later, the Omega Bank in Thompsontown.

His memberships included the Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he served as the Council Treasurer for 10 years; the Thompsontown Ambulance League where he served as the Secretary/Treasurer for 26 years; the Lost Creek Golf Club; was a past member of the Thompsontown Area Lions Club where he served as the Treasurer for 3 years; and served on the Borough of Thompsontown Board as the Secretary/Treasurer for over 28 ½ years.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, October 23, 2020 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 19 N. Mill St., Thompsontown with the Rev. Mike Sigler officiating. Interment will follow at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Thompsontown where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veteran’s Council.

There will be no viewing or visitation at the Church on Friday.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, For those in attendance, social distancing and mask wearing are both required.
