Obituary for Florence I. "Becky" Kerstetter (Dressler)

Florence I. “Becky” Kerstetter, 97, of McAlisterville, formerly of Oriental, passed away at 8:05 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the North Ridge Personal Care Center in McAlisterville.

Born on May 26, 1923 in Chapman Twp., Snyder County, she is the daughter of the late Peter A. and Lily (Naugle) Dressler. Her late husband, Harvey E. “Snutz” Kerstetter, with whom she was blessed to shared over 39 years of marriage, passed away on June 22, 1978.

Surviving her are her children, Ronald Kerstetter and his wife Carrie, Joyce Bennett Wilson and her husband Richard, all of Liverpool, Gloria Kerstetter of Millerstown, William Kerstetter, Tina Hackett and her husband Greg all of Thompsontown; one daughter-in-law, Patti Kerstetter of Richfield; ten grandchildren, Ronald Kerstetter II and his wife Diane, Teresa Randolph and her husband Karl, Wally Bennett and his wife Heather, Michael Bennett, Christopher Rapp and his companion Lisa Fairbanks, Christine Rapp, William Kerstetter and his wife Megan, Justin Kerstetter and his wife Megan, Scott Landis Jr. and his wife Alexis, and Elizabeth Landis and her companion Cory Deihl; twelve great grandchildren, Kie Kerstetter, Dani Kerstetter, Riley Bennett, Carter Bennett, Breanna Rapp, Sabrina Rapp, Garret Kerstetter, Addison LeBlanc, Isabella Landis, Wyatt Deihl, Marshall Deihl, and Nash Deihl; and several generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: one son, John Kerstetter on June 17, 2020; one son-in-law, Wallace Bennett; one grandson, Matthew Bennett; and siblings, William, Harvey, Mary, Allen, Ida, Grace, Edna, Harry, Catherine, Elmer, and a sister in infancy making her the last of her generation.

Florence began working at an early age on various farms to help her family out. Next, she, along with her husband “Snutz” ran and managed the former Keystone Hotel, now known as the Oriental Hotel, from 1953 to 1963 where they hosted many country music legends attending the P.O.S. of A. Fair. After that, she worked as a Nurse’s Aide in numerous settings. Next, she was employed in the Clerical Department at the Department of Revenue in Harrisburg. Finally, she was employed and retired as a school bus driver for various routes for the Perry and Juniata County School Districts.

Mrs. Kerstetter was a member of St. Paul’s Union Church in Liverpool where she played the organ and the piano and, in earlier life, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lafayette Chapter 222 in Selinsgrove.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, hunting, fishing, crocheting, playing cards, yodeling, and square dancing; however, she cherished the time spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her loving, caring, and jovial nature that she shared with everyone.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 28, 2020 at the St. Thomas Independent Church, 1070 St. Thomas Road, Mount Pleasant Mills with Pastor Roger Womer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Liverpool.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Church.
