Obituary for James G. Barth


James G. “Speedy” Barth, 86, of McAlisterville, passed away at 5:23 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2020 at the Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.
Born on December 31, 1933 in Fayette Township, Juniata County, he is the son of the late Cloyd E. and Elizabeth J. (Weller) Barth. On June 7, 1952, he married his surviving wife, Donna Jean (Paige) Barth with whom he was blessed to share more than 68 years of marriage.
Surviving are: two children, Kenneth Barth and his wife Vicki. of Middletown, Tina French, of Mifflintown; Siblings, Paul E. Barth, Kathryn “Cassie” Long both of McAlisterville, Four grandchildren, Chad Barth and his wife Kelly, Justin French and his wife Jennifer, Megan Conley and her husband Brian, and Cody Palm and his wife Joy; and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Barth.
He retired in 1995 as a Crane Operator with 25 years of service to Standard Steel of Burnham. During retirement, he loved mowing the grass at the Lost Creek Golf Course.
He attended the Bunkertown Brethren Church and he was a long time member of the Lost Creek Golf Club, Oakland Mills.
Speedy was an ardent Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. In earlier life, he loved playing softball and driving his racecar at the local various race tracks.
Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 16, 2020 at the Bunkertown Brethren Church, 52 Bunkertown Road, McAlisterville with Pastor Wes Stahl officiating. Interment will be private and in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.
There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Services at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mr. Barth’s memory to the Ronald McDonald House of Danville, Inc., P.O. Box 300, Danville, PA 17821.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall Street, McAlisterville.
