Obituary for Fay L. Bolig (Fry)



Fay L. Bolig, 86, of Thompsontown, passed away at 11:45 AM on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born on November 17, 1933 in New Bloomfield, Perry County, she is the daughter of the late Karl and Olive (Arnold) Fry. On December 1, 1956, she married her late husband, Ernest R. “Ernie” Bolig, with whom she was blessed to share almost 60 years of marriage before his passing on July 27, 2016.

Surviving her are: her children, Pat Sierer and her husband Rob of McAlisterville and Robert E. Bolig Sr. of Lock Haven; five siblings, Wayne Fry and his wife Pat of Port Matilda, Shirley Rouzer of Camp Hill, Jean Haines and her husband Donald of Duncannon, Donald Fry and his wife Liz of Elliotsburg, Lynn Fry and his wife Mary Jane of Harrisburg; one sister in law, Jean Fry of New Bloomfield; two grandchildren, Mandy Sierer Brown and her husband Chris, Robert E. Bolig, Jr. and his wife Alisa; and one great granddaughter, Isabella Brown.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Fry; a sister, Beverly Fry; and a brother in law, Jim Rouzer.

Fay was a 1952 graduate of Perry Joint High School and was employed and retired as a seamstress at the Richfield Shirt Factory.

Mrs. Bolig was a member and attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Thompsontown where she served as a Church Organist for over fifty years.

She enjoyed puzzles, crossword puzzles, going to Potter County, sharing her red beets and tomatoes with her neighbors in Thompsontown, loving her cats and dogs, and in earlier life, enjoyed knitting; however, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

All Services will be private with Pastor Wes Stahl officiating.

Interment will take place at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Thompsontown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Bolig’s memory may be made to the Resident’s fund at Berry’s Personal Care Center, 68 Lexi Street, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
