Obituary for David R. Llewellyn III

David R. Llewellyn III, 81, of McAlisterville, passed away at 2:15 AM, Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.

Born on August 7, 1938 in Abington, Montgomery County, he is a son of the late David R. Jr. and May E. (Logan) Llewellyn.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Thawley) Llewellyn, at home; Mary’s three children, one sister, Lydia Clark and her husband Wally of Glenside; three sons; one daughter; three step-sons; one step-daughter; several generations of nieces and nephews; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a wife, Nancy Mae (Brower) Llewellyn who passed away on December 26, 2013.

Mr. Llewellyn was a graduate of Abington High School, Pennsylvania State University, and West Chester University.

David was an accomplished Engineer, working for several companies including Thiokol Corporation, Hewlett Packard Gas Chromatographs, High Technology Solutions, the Firecab Division of CECO/Taylor Co, and the Boeing Company. He proudly designed and built a wide variety of tooling dies, jigs, molds, fixtures, and special machinery and enjoyed teaching his trade whenever he could.

He enjoyed home remodeling, golfing, photography, archery, and fishing.

All Services will be private with interment taking place at Hillside Cemetery in Abington, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Llewellyn’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association, 4250 Crums Mill Road, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
