Obituary for Harold L. Leach



Harold LeRoy Leach, 84, of Thompsontown, passed away at 8:17 PM on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Locust Grove Retirement Village in Mifflin.

Born on January 1, 1936 in Thompsontown, Juniata County, he is a son of the late Marvin R. and Alberta (Nelson) Leach.

Surviving him are: his wife, Peggy (Woomer) Leach; one daughter, Bonita S. Martin and her husband Steve of Mifflin; one son, Brent Leach and his wife Darlene of Thompsontown; four step-daughters, Dawn Austin and her husband Tom of Mexico, Diane Strawser of Thompsontown, Delma Sheaffer and her husband Zane of Richfield, and Peggy Ramsey and her husband Ken of McAlisterville; three sisters, Arlene Weiand of Thompsontown, Betty Jean Swartz and her husband James of Honey Grove, and Nancy Shadel and her husband Wayne of Thompsontown; one brother, Albert “Son” Leach of Thompsontown; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey (Miller) Leach on February 5, 1995; one brother, Kenneth Leach; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Martin.

Mr. Leach began his employment at Agway in Mifflin. Next, he worked on bridge construction on Pennsylvania roadways. Finally, he was employed and retired as a Construction Carpenter for many years on the Three Mile Island and Berwick Nuclear Plants.

Harold had attended the Bunkertown Church of the Brethren in McAlisterville and the Free Spring Church of the Brethren in Mifflintown. His hobbies included enjoying restoring, showing, and using antique tractors, especially Farmall and Allis-Chalmers tractors and also had a life long passion for farming.

Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 PM, on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Free Spring Church of the Brethren, 670 Free Spring Church Road, Mifflintown with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Interment will be private at the Goodwill Cemetery, McAlisterville.

There will be no viewing or visitation.
