Obituary for Bertha P. Mangle



Bertha Pauline Mangle, 92, of Mifflintown, formerly of Thompsontown, passed away at 7:50 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.
Born on February 26, 1927 in Oriental, Juniata County, she is the daughter of the late John and Loretta (Strawser) Klase.
On December 10, 1944, she was married to her late husband, John W. Mangle, with whom she was blessed to share more than 71 years of marriage before his passing on November 27, 2016.
Surviving are one son, Robert “Bob” Mangle and his wife Aida of Friendswood, TX; one son-in-law, Randall “Randy” Spade of Thompsontown; two sisters, Orpha Kreamer of Lancaster and Esther Copeland of Arizona; one brother, Jim Klase of Port Royal; a daughter in law Theo Mangle of Dauphin, one sister-in-law, Wilma (Mangle) Dietz of McAlisterville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Bonnie Lou Faltine, Shirley Jane Spade, and Carol Jean Mangle; two sons, John W. Mangle and Timothy Charles Mangle; and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Mangle had previously attended the Thompsontown United Methodist Church and enjoyed embroidery and in earlier life, enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables. Mrs. Mangle was also a gifted writer, who had several letters printed in the local newspapers.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with the Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the funeral home.
