Obituary for Cora E. Nace

Cora Edith (Ehrenzeller) Nace, 86, of McAlisterville, passed into the arms of Jesus at 3:18 PM on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Born on August 17, 1933 in Delaware Twp., Juniata Co., she is the daughter of the late Roy and Jennie (Naylor) Ehrenzeller.

On September 13, 1950 in Hagerstown, MD, she married her surviving husband, Herbert R. “Herb” Nace with whom she was blessed to share over 69 years of marriage.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Linda N. Brouse and her husband Walter of McAlisterville and Kathy L. Whitesel and her husband Jeff of Mifflintown; one daughter in law, Chrystal (Womer) Nace of Thompsontown; six grandchildren, Jason Brouse and his wife Jennifer of Duncannon, Adam Whitesel and his wife Sharon of Lewistown, Jenessa Messimer and her husband Matthew of Newport, Dr. Mindy Merritt and her husband Stewart of Morehead City, NC, Chad Whitesel of Seattle, WA, and Jamie Kratzer and her husband Jed of Thompsontown; and nine great-grandchildren, Paige and Callie Brouse, Josie, Krista, and Addison Whitesel, Elyse and Nolan Messimer, Emerson and Charlie Merritt.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jim Nace on November 11, 2009; and three brothers, Earl Ehrenzeller, Paul Ehrenzeller, and Clair Ehrenzeller making her the last of her generation.

In her younger years, Cora worked at Maple Lawn which was started by her parents and also worked at the L. Shellenberger and Sons Sewing factory in East Salem. Sewing was her passion and became her hobby later in life which she was very good at and always “guaranteeing” her work. She enjoyed volunteering at church in many capacities and in the community in a “behind the scenes” kind of way – for instance, she was a mender for Abundant Blessings for many years.

Mrs. Nace took great pride in caring for her family and home showing us all how to live a good life by her example.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Brown’s United Methodist Church, 33762 Route 35 North, McAlisterville with Pastor Kevin Brophy and Pastor Ronald Landis officiating. Interment will follow at the East Salem Cemetery.

A viewing will take place from 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral services at 2:00 PM on Friday at the church.
