Obituary for Ray B. Hart

Ray B. Hart of Richfield went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 12, 2019 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville with his wife and daughter by his side.

Born on May 1, 1931, Ray was the son of Charles and Tessie Hart.

Ray is survived by his loving wife Betty of 70 years, married March 6, 1950.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: daughters, Judy and husband Jere of Lebanon; Deb and husband Dave of Elizabethtown; sons, Rodney and wife Ann of McAlisterville and Delmar and wife Robin of Port Royal; youngest son, Matthew, deceased in 2012.

Twelve grandchildren: John, Laura and husband Tyler, Andrew and wife Trish, Joshua and wife Amy, Vanessa and husband Matt, Holly and husband Craig, Betty Jo and husband Sonny, Tony, Leah and husband Trevor, Tom, Lydia and husband Scott, and Tim. Also sixteen great-grandchildren: Xavier, Eli, Sadie, Nolan, Brayden, Maeley, Scarlett, Iris, Luke, Cy, Aden, Autumn, Ava, Vivian, Martha, and Reid.

Ray had four brothers: Gerald, Wayne, Bill, twin brother Jay, and a sister, Mildred Kaegel – all deceased. One surviving sister, Elsie Mae Benner of McAlisterville.

Ray graduated Valedictorian of his class from Thompsontown Delaware High School in 1949.

Ray was a lifetime member of the East Salem United Methodist Church and Sunday School teacher for most of his life.

Ray was a dairy farmer, milking cows, feeding beef cattle, and maintaining the farm until 75 years of age.

In addition, Ray also drove school bus for 25 years.

Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family.

In 2010, Ray suffered a massive stroke and was cared for by his wife, Betty, until his passing.

Services will be held at East Salem United Methodist Church, 7398 Route 235, Mifflintown, on Saturday morning, 11/16/2019.
Viewing at 9-11 AM followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be at Richfield Union Cemetery.
