Obituary for Lynn E. Landis

Lynn E. Landis, 90, of Mifflintown, passed away at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.
Born on March 21, 1929 in Walker Township, he is the son of the late Thomas E. and Mildred (Hack) Landis. On June 25, 1949 he married his late wife Verna L. (Swartz) Landis with whom he was blessed to share nearly 64 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on March 8, 2013.
He is survived by several generations of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Thomas “Marlin” Landis, Jack E. Landis and H. Richard “Rich” Landis making him the last of his generation.
Mr. Landis was a 1947 graduate of Juniata Joint High School and a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church both of Mifflintown.
During the Korean War he was a proud veteran having served our country in the United States Army.
In earlier life he was employed by the American Viscose Corp., Lewistown, after which he was employed by Standard Steel, Burnham, before retiring from John Shirk Construction, Richfield.
Lynn was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, who in his younger years always enjoyed playing softball, hunting and he had a lifelong interest in cars.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 29, 2019 at the Grace United Methodist Church, 6607 William Penn Highway, Mexico with Pastor Dan Kerlin officiating. Interment will follow at Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown where the Juniata County Veterans Council will accord full military burial honors.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
The family respectfully asks for no flowers and kindly ask that memorial contributions in Mr. Landis’s memory be made to the favorite charity of the donor’s choice.
