Roy S. Roush, 81, of Thompsontown, passed away at 10:39 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at his residence.
Born on March 8, 1938 in Millerstown, Perry Co., he is a son of the late Willard I. and Mazie (Dimm) Roush.
On April 4, 1959, he married his surviving wife, Wilma M. (Swartz) Roush with whom he was blessed to share over 60 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two sons, Steven A. Roush and his wife Suzanne and Douglas L. Roush and his wife Holly, all of Thompsontown; two sisters, Lois Frymoyer and Shirley Stroup and her husband Robert, all of Millerstown; three brothers, Carl Roush of Newport, Clarence Roush and his wife Laura of Halifax, and Willard Roush and his wife Bonnie of Thompsontown; five grandchildren, Christopher Roush and his wife Caitlin, Chester Roush, Logan Roush, Jessica Roush, and Jason Roush; and one great-grandchild due in October.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: four sisters, Mary Rock, Thelma Goodling, Esther Campbell, and Ruth Powley; and two brothers, Luther Roush and Paul Roush.
Mr. Roush was employed and retired after 48 years of service at Armstrong Cabinets in Thompsontown.
Roy had attended Otterbein United Methodist Church in East Salem and was a social member at Delaware Township Fire Company #6. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, cutting firewood, and gardening; however, his greatest joy came from spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the East Salem United Methodist Church, 7398 Route 235, Mifflintown with Pastor Donald Walters officiating. Interment will follow at East Salem Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Roush’s memory may be made to the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 7398 Route 235, Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to the Delaware Township Fire Company #6, 224 East Salem Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
