Obituary for Dennis L. Casey



Dennis L. Casey, 60, of Mifflintown, passed away at 1:41 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on August 9, 1959, in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, he is the son of Carol Lou (Hetzel) Casey of Mifflintown and the late Robert W. “Bob” Casey. On June 14, 1986, he married his surviving wife, Melissa E. “Missi” (Stuck) Casey with whom he was blessed to share over 33 years of marriage.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by his siblings, Brian W. Casey and his wife Mary, of Mifflintown, Michael A. Casey and his wife Tammy, of Millerstown, Kathy J. Zook and her husband Joe, Timothy S. Casey, all of Mifflintown; and he is survived by several generations of nieces and nephews; also his beloved feline fur baby, Jasmin.
Mr. Casey was a 1977 graduate of Juniata High School and proudly served with the U.S. Navy, having attained the rank of HM3 serving with the Marine 2nd Division FMF where he was stationed at Camp Lejune, NC. During his military service, he obtained a commendation citation for superior professional performance and humanitarian concern on the Island of Dominica.
In earlier life, he had been employed in the health care profession as an aide and orderly at various medical institutions, after which, he was employed by Triangle Pacific Corp. of Thompsontown and later served as a Pastor of the Rock of All Ages Church.
Dennis loved to fish, go to the beach and ocean, camping, painting military miniatures, gardening, cooking, canning, and kitty cats.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Glen and Beverly Peachey officiating. Interment will follow at the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
