Obituary for Carol J. Gelnett (Van Ormer)




Carol J. Gelnett, 85, of McAlisterville, passed away at 1:20 PM on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born on November 25, 1933 in McAlisterville, Juniata Co., she is a daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (Crozier) Van Ormer.

On November 15, 1966, she married her husband, David E. Gelnett Sr. with whom she was blessed to share over 47 years of marriage before his passing on May 30, 2014.

Surviving her are: two sons, Terry V. Forry Sr. and his wife Jean of Lewistown and David E. Gelnett Jr. and his wife Karen of McAlisterville; two sisters, Gail Griffin of Annapolis, MD and Edie Murphy of Sebastian, FL; five grandchildren, Travis S. Forry and his wife Alicia, Desirae C. Foultz and her husband Cameron, Katrina M. Gelnett, Aaron P. Michalchik and his wife Jessica, and Emma J. Michalchik; and two great-granddaughters, Madison L. Forry and Adalyn G. Forry.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Terry V. Forry, Jr.

Mrs. Gelnett was a 1951 graduate of Fayette High School and was employed and retired as a Floor Manager at Lyons Fashion in McAlisterville.

She was a former member of the Lost Creek Presbyterian Church in McAlisterville and enjoyed reading the bible, singing, and was a former hairdresser and owned her own shop in McAlisterville. Most all, Carol was family centered and oriented; she will be deeply missed by her loving family.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with the Rev. Ronald Shupe officiating. Interment will be private at the Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery.

A viewing will be held from 2 PM until the time of the funeral services at 4 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
