Obituary for Raymond L. "Buck" Imes




Raymond L. “Buck” Imes, 89, of Mifflin, passed away at 9:45 AM on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at his residence.
Born on April 11, 1930 in Beale Twp., Juniata Co., he is a son of the late William L. and Tressa Gay (Swartzwood) Imes.
On October 18, 1951, he was married to his surviving wife, Norma F. (Smith) Imes, with whom he was blessed to share over 67 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert D. Imes and his wife Kathy of Mifflin, Kenneth A. Imes and his wife Cathy of Honey Grove, Michael S. Imes and his wife Sherrie of Mifflintown, and Karen I. Sweger and her husband Keith of East Waterford; siblings, Anna Treaster of Milroy, Jack E. Imes and his wife June, and Floyd L. Imes and his wife Alice, all of Mifflin; seven grandchildren, Stacey Pannebaker, Kurtis Sweger, Bobbi Schoffstall, Joshua Imes, Shelley Zeiders, Karissa Fahnestock, and Brittany Berrier; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, William, Paul, Herbert, Carl Richard and Charles in infancy.
Mr. Imes honorably served our country as a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
In addition to being a life long farmer, Raymond was also employed and retired as a Supervisor for the Harrisburg State Hospital and served as a Supervisor for many terms for Beale Township.
He was a member of the Rock Full Gospel Assembly of God Church in Mifflin and enjoyed attending public sales, collecting and restoring Farmall and Alis Chalmers tractors, collecting guns, knives, and hats, hunting, and loved dancing; however, his greatest joy came from time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Jerry Conley officiating. Interment will follow at the McCoysville Cemetery where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
A viewing will be held from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the funeral home.
