Obituary for Janet K. Derr

Janet Kustaborder Derr , 102, of the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin and formerly of Path Street, Mifflin passed away at 5:45 PM on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the village.
Born on April 25, 1917 in Bellwood, Blair County, she was a daughter of the late Robert F. and Sarah Ruth (Bratton) Kustaborder.
On May 15, 1938 she was married to her late husband, George M. Derr who passed away on November 23, 2016 at the age of 101 years old. They were blessed to share over 78 years of marriage together.
Surviving are: three daughters, Donna D. Kauffman and her husband Marvin, Barbara Ehrenzeller, all of Mifflintown, Cheryl Miller and her husband George, of Mifflin, 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Being the last of her generation, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Ruth Hopkins and Leah Romaine Broadbent; and a son in law, Arthur Ehrenzeller.
She graduated from Bellwood Antis High School and she was the oldest living member of the St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Mifflintown.
Earlier in life, she worked for Zendt’s Store and later for Juniata Garment Factory, both of Mifflin.
Janet was an excellent seamstress, making many of her own clothes. With her gift of artistry, she could almost master any craft. She loved knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, baking, and shopping. Her porch was a central point for visitors all summer long however, she thought her grandkids were the greatest.
All services are private. Interment will be in the Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown. There will be no viewing.
