Obituary for Charles R. "Charlie" Reid



Charles R. “Charlie” Reid, 83, of the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, and formerly of Mifflintown passed away at 5:37 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the village.
Born on July 3, 1935 in Williamsport, Lycoming County he is the son of the late Charles R. Sr. and Grace M. (Cohick) Reid. On February 16, 1963 he married his surviving wife Patricia C. (Crossley) Reid with whom he was blessed to share more than 56 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 daughters; Christina Harrison and her husband David, of Harrisburg, Amy Benner, of Newport and son-in-law Dan Benner, of Thompsontown, a sister, Andrea Salvatori and her husband Anthony, of Montoursville and he leaves behind 4 grandsons, Daniel Harrison and his wife Allie, Adam Harrison, Jared Benner and Kobe Benner also 2 great-grandchildren Benjamin Harrison and Ella Harrison. In addition he is also survived by a maternal aunt Miriam Thomas “Aunt Peachie” and her son Scott Thomas, both of Williamsport. He was a 1954 graduate of Williamsport High School and he attended Lycoming College, Williamsport.
In earlier life he was employed by the Juniata Valley Bank, after which he was employed by the First National Bank of Mifflintown where he proudly served his local community. Mr. Reid retired with 25 years of service as the marketing director for Susquehanna Rehabilitation Services, Mechanicsburg.
His memberships included being a 50 plus year member of the John Laedlein Lodge No. 707 F&AM, Williamsport, 50 plus year member of the A.A.S.R, Valley of Williamsport, Cumberland Valley Trout Unlimited, Tuscarora Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, Conewago Fly Fishing Club, the NRA, the Lost Creek Rod and Gun Club, the Penn State Wrestling Club and the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Mifflintown, where in his younger years he was very active member holding various offices.
Charlie loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing and attending local and Penn State sporting events; however, his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family especially his grandsons.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, April 8, 2019 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown with the Chaplain Timothy A. Nickel officiating. Interment will follow in the Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown.
A viewing will be from 5 – 7 pm on Sunday, April 7, 2019 where family and friends are invited to wear blue and white or their favorite Penn State attire at the funeral home where a masonic service will be accorded at 6:45 pm by the Union Lodge No. 324 F&AM, Mifflintown.
