Obituary for Linda K. Swartz



Linda K. Swartz, 72, of Mifflintown, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born on October 18, 1946 in Lewistown, Mifflin Co., she is a daughter of the late Richard E. “Dick” and Roberta D. “Bobbie” (Thompson) Miller.

On July 31, 1965, she married her late husband, Charles “Mel” Swartz, with whom she was blessed to share almost 50 years of marriage before his passing on April 24, 2015.

Surviving are: her companion, Clair L. Bair, Jr. of Port Royal; children, Douglas T. Swartz and his wife Tara of Mifflintown, Jo E. Shafranich and her husband William of Milroy, Shelly L. Elder of Mifflintown; a brother, James D. Rodkey of York; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was a 1964 graduate of Juniata Joint High School and a 1979 graduate of the Mifflin-Juniata Vo-Tech School as a L.P.N.

For a number of years, she served as a L.P.N. at the Locust Grove Retirement Village of Mifflin and later, she was a Pharmacy Tech at Bewards Pharmacy of Mifflintown.

Her memberships included: the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Mifflintown, the Stone Arch Players and the Sinceres Singing Group.

Linda loved singing, attending and acting in the theater, traveling, and cooking for her family.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Corner of Lemon and Third Street, Mifflintown with the Rev. Nancy McClure officiating. Interment will follow in the Academia Cemetery.

A viewing will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown and from 9 AM until the time of the funeral services at 10 AM on Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Swartz’s memory may be made to the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, 209 Lemon St., Mifflintown, PA 17059.
