Obituary for Sylvia M. Mummah

Sylvia M. Mummah, 82, of Mifflintown, passed away at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.
Born on April 10, 1936, in Lancaster County, she is a daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret (Bleacher) Ragan. On March 3, 1952, she married her late husband, Karl E. Mummah, with whom she was blessed to share more than 60 years of marriage, before he preceded her in death on October 17, 2012.
Surviving are her children: Ronald E. Mummah and his wife Desiree, of Port Royal, Daniel L. Mummah and his wife Norma, of Mifflintown, Beverly M. Reynolds, of Lutherville, MD, Stanley K. Mummah and his wife Lezlee, of Mifflintown; and she leaves behind eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Mummah was a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church, Oakland Mills, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and she was a member of the Women’s group. She was also a member of the Juniata Co. Farmers Association, where she served as a director. At one time she was actively involved in the Juniata County Republican Committee and she fervently supported Foster care children and Fresh Air children.
Sylvia was a homemaker, who at one time had a craft store in her home. With her artistic ability she loved creating paintings for her family and she will long be remembered for her talent of baking, cooking and being an herbalist. It has been said that she was Martha Stewart, before there was a Martha Stewart.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019, from the Pine Grove United Methodist Church, Oakland Mills, with Pastor Jennifer Heikes officiating. Interment will be private in the Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery, Oakland Mills.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly ask that memorial donations in Mrs. Mummah’s memory may be made to the Juniata County Library, 498 Jefferson St., Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to the Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 4633 Cuba Mills Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to www.freshair.org.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
