Dorothy L. Beward, 90, of Brookline Manor, Mifflintown passed away at 11:48 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at the manor.
Born on December 14, 1927 in Walker Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Dorothy M. (Casner) Brannon. On April 9, 1948 she married her surviving husband Richard E. “Dick” Beward with whom she was blessed to share more than 70 years of marriage.
Surviving are: a daughter, Pamela G. Beward, of Mechanicsburg, a sister, Sandra J. Stine, of Hershey and several generations of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Beward served as the chief clerk for the Mifflin County Commissioners and a legal secretary for the judge and district attorney also of Mifflin County.
She was a 1945 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown and a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg.
Dorothy loved music, gardening, traveling and bowling.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 1, 2018, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Chris Mathiason officiating. Interment will be private and held in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
