Obituary for Robert Lee Imes





R. Lee Imes, 84, of Mifflin, passed away at 12:20 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born June 11, 1934, in Beale Twp., Juniata County, he was a son of the late D. Luther and Jenetta (Swartwood) Imes. On August 20, 1955, he married his surviving wife, C. Alice (Ammerman) Imes with whom he was blessed to share over 63 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving family: Robert Lee Imes Jr, Stuart D. Imes and his wife Penny, and Chris Hubler, Sr. and his wife Marlene all of Mifflin, Stuart E. Ammerman Jr. and his wife Sharon of McAlisterville; two siblings, David L. Imes and his wife Judy, of Port Royal and Connie L. Horst and her husband Robert of Lemoyne; seven grandchildren, Timothy Imes, James Robert Imes, Chris Hubler, Jr., Aaron Hubler, Stuart Ammerman, III, Sarah Todd, and Amanda Brehmen; and one great grandson, Carter Douglas Imes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah L. “Debbie” Imes, eight siblings, Melvin Imes, Blair Imes, Lehman Imes, R. Earl Imes, Charles “Sam” Imes, and Stella Brandt; and two sisters in infancy, Dorothy and Mary Imes.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and attended the Rock Assembly of God Church.
In earlier life, Mr. Imes was employed by Agway of Mifflin, however, Lee was a lifelong self - employed farmer.
He loved fishing, hunting, collecting Allis-Chalmers Tractors, attending farm sales, cattle auctions, and canning. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother whose family meant everything to him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Jerry Conley officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Nook.
Viewing will be held from 7 - 9 p.m., Friday, September 14th, 2018 at the funeral home.
