Clara E. Felton
Clara E. Felton, 83, of Reedsville and formerly of Mifflintown passed away at 8:40 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Valley View Haven, Belleville.
Born on April 5, 1934, in Jacksonville, Centre County, she was a daughter of the late Walter, Sr. and Eleanor (Lucas) Winslow. On October 5, 1956 she married her surviving husband Edwin C. Felton, with whom she was blessed to share more than 60 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Dr. Rick Felton and his wife Irene, of Ft. Collins, CO, Steven Felton and his wife Shelli, of Reedville; a brother, Russell Winslow and his wife Joan, of Hood River, Oregon; and she leaves behind four grandchildren, Emily Felton, Matthew Felton, Alana Felton and Luke Felton.
Two brothers, Walter Winslow, Jr. and Paul Winslow, in infancy, and two sisters, Julia Moore and Dorothy Swartz, preceded her in death.
Clara was a 1952 graduate of Lewistown High School and a 1955 graduate of Bryn Mawr School of Nursing. She was also a member of the Lewistown Assembly of God Church, and a volunteer for Juniata Meals on Wheels.
Early in her nursing career, she was an instructor at the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing and in 1994 she retired from the Lewistown Hospital, as a Registered Nurse in the Maternity Ward, with over 36 years of service. During her husband’s career in the U.S. Navy, she also practiced nursing in Hawaii and Connecticut.
She was a pillar of faith, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed attending gospel concerts with her husband.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from the Lewistown Assembly of God Church, 160 Summit Drive, Lewistown with Rev. Dennis Sproull and Rev. Richard Grimes officiating. Interment will follow in the Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
There will be no public viewing.
For those who wish, memorial donations in Mrs. Felton’s memory may be made to the Lewistown Assembly of God Church, 160 Summit Dr., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the Bethesda Mission, P.O. Box 3041, Harrisburg, PA 17105-9982.
